One of the most sought movie serials -- Jungle Girl -- arrives on DVD and VHS in late June. Produced by Republic Pictures in 1941, the serial is loosely based on the famous novel Jungle Girl, by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Frances Gifford stars as the beautiful and resourceful Nyoka and Tom Neal (of Detour fame) stars as our hero, Jack Stanton. Together they meet the challenges of bad guy Slick Latimer (Gerald Mohr, the star of radio's "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe"), a bogus doctor (Trevor Bardette) who slays Nyoka's father, and an evil witch doctor named Shamba (serial veteran Frank Lackteen).

VCI Entertainment has prepared their video transfer from a newly discovered 35mm master positive print. The DVD will be presented as a two-disc set, with a photo gallery, biographies, and approximately an hour of serial trailers. Release date: June 26, 2001.
